I spent around 20-30 hours interviewing, completing an IQ test, preparing for a presentation, and delivering the presentation. There was no compensation provided for my time and knowledge. The company did not disclose salary ranges during the interviews and they're not listed on the JDs. The entire process took a little over a month. The interviewers were generally intelligent and friendly, although they asked repetitive questions and did not seem to have a specific focus area in mind for the interviews. For the presentation, I was given only 15-20 minutes to cover multiple topics. It was challenging to decide what areas to focus on within that time frame. The complete presentation would have taken over an hour to cover everything thoroughly. I highly recommend getting clarification on what you should focus on. During the process, I enjoyed meeting everyone I encountered, and I believe the company has a great product. I do believe the company will have trouble scaling at the rate they discussed with the extensive interview process and their unwillingness to take chances on candidates. They mentioned that they have interviewed more than 15 individuals and have not yet found the "perfect" candidate. The perfect candidate doesn't exist, just like the perfect job does not exist. Once the market shifts, it'll be difficult to get people to share so much knowledge and time for free.
