I was initially excited to interview with Writer. The recruiter was great - clear, professional and kept me updated throughout.
However, the rest of the process felt disorganised. The hiring manager was present in multiple interviews and repeated the same general questions like “Why should we hire you?” or “What makes you different from others?” It felt like they were expecting some very specific answer without giving much context.
The technical questions were focused more on very specific knowledge than on problem-solving or engineering ability. It seemed like they were searching for a “unicorn” candidate with a very narrow skill set.
After several interviews, I was unexpectedly asked to do a home task, which hadn’t been mentioned before. It was a basic coding problem you could find online and I wasn’t sure what they were trying to learn from it at that point.
I was rejected after the task. By then, I wasn’t too disappointed, as the process had already made me question whether this was the right environment.
