      Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Xcalar (San Jose, CA) in Apr 2016

      Interview

About two weeks after submitting my resume through an independent recruiter, I did one 90min phone screen, then 5 days later two 3-4 hour on-site interviews. I knew some people there already, but everyone who interviewed me were people that I didn't know. The questions were challenging, but luckily I had already interviewed at a few places, so I was sort of "in shape" for coding interviiews at that point. I don't think I would have passed if this was my first interview after a long time. Everyone I talked to seemed very bright and excited about the company. The CEO and co-founder both interviewed me.

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

They asked coding questions as well as some design questions which we discussed as I coded it up on the white board. Lots of focus around distributed systems and thread synchronization scenarios. I had some good discussions with everyone I talked to, which made it overall a fun experience.
