I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Yard House (Minneapolis, MN) in Aug 2018
Interview
Brett, Aaron and the nice young lady were awesome. It was brief. It seemed very easy, it coudln't of gotten any better, or so I thought. Well, instead of interviewing with all 4 managers in one day, i offered to commute back the hour and half (6hours total of time) but I really wanted the job and wanted my verasicty to be noticed.

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Yard House (Vernon Hills, IL) in May 2025
Interview
When I arrived, I was asked whether I was a walk-in or had a scheduled interview. I let them know I had a scheduled interview, and they handed me a sheet to fill out with my name, the position I was applying for, and my availability. After completing it, I was directed to a table where I spoke with a gentleman who began by explaining his position and giving me some background on the restaurant.
He then reviewed my availability on the sheet. Since I’m currently in school, I can only work part-time, and I noted that I’m available Wednesday through Saturday. He told me that for their well-being, they needed full-time availability, particularly on Sundays. I explained that I wasn’t looking for a full-time position, but he reiterated that they needed people with open availability since they were just opening.
I understand their staffing needs, but it was frustrating to drive 40 minutes for an interview only to be declined for the same availability I had already submitted when I first applied and completed the assessment. Not only did I waste gas and put unnecessary miles on my car, but the interview process itself felt vague and somewhat inefficient.
Interview questions [1]
