I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Yelp (San Francisco, CA) in Oct 2012
Interview
Hiring process was fairly quick and great learning process. I received my first email for a schedule phone interview about a week after submitting my application. The phone interview was easy. They asked questions on what Yelp as a company does, why do you want to go onto sales, have you heard of yelp before. As long as you do your research, you will do well. My phone interviewer informed that I did well and that they will like to have an in office interview and that they would send an email later in the day.
The interview day I selected was not selected as my top choice but I went with it. The location of Yelp HQ is not easy to find as there is a side entrance that is overlooked. The interview for me consisted of two people. I was nervous in the beginning and I wasn't able to execute the questions that they asked. I did miserably during the role playing with the first interviewer and I had a difficult time answering my second interviewers questions on why this position.
If applying for this position, expect worst case questions to prepare yourself. Practice with a friend in selling Yelp ad's to a fake business.
