I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Yelp (Phoenix, AZ) in Nov 2013
Interview
I was interviewed by a 1yr Account Manager. We chatted about Phoenix and about relocating to Phoenix. He then went straight in to asking what type of Product Yelp sells that helps them stay in business? Really? I understand what Yelp is and how Yelp operates. They sell online advertising to local small business to help them be noticeable from customers and write reviews about the business. Is this not something you learn in training or you let your employers know? The link the recruiter sends you does not specifically state what product Yelp sells to help them stay in business. I feel they should be more concerned about personality and skills of the candidate which are uncoachable/untrainable? The employees speak about how they drink at work and jam out to loud music all day long? Do businesses know your speaking to them intoxicated? You have to drink in order to make a sell? You have to rely on someone to feed you? You have to rely on someone to pay your gym membership? Are you lazy and don't want to work hard for yourself? Are you working here for the partying, booze, food, and perks rather than becoming successful business person and helping the company become more successful?

Question 1
What product does Yelp sell and helps keep Yelp in business.
Standard filtering/fluff questions followed by a Mock sales pitch. It was not very different from other Sales/CS roles that I have applied to. It was not very difficult or novel at all.

I just had a quick screening call, and it was really focused on sales, more than on customer service. Cold calling is a big part of the role, and commissions don’t start until about 6 months in.
