      Mid Market AE Interview

      Dec 19, 2018
      Anonymous Interview Candidate
      New York, NY
      No offer
      Negative experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 8 weeks. I interviewed at Yext (New York, NY) in Dec 2018

      Interview

There are many, many steps to the process. I hadn't heard of the company prior to being contacted. I was hoping that interviewers along the way would do a better job of explaining the company and go-to-market strategy as it seems to have changed many times over. (Read the employee reviews). No one took the opportunity to talk me through the pain points, pivot in company direction, why these roles are so crucial. In fact, when I think I about the whole process, the only selling of the company came from the recruiter and it wasn't overly compelling. My research and the brand of some of the execs, leadership changes, approach to market were what got me excited. All things the company could have sold me on, but didn't. My interview process was drawn out. Took months due to scheduling challenges, ending in a presentation. You get minimal guidance on the presentation. I was scheduled to have coffee with an AE in role afterwards that I was looking forward to because it's great insight into the role and challenges, which still no one had addressed. Guess what? The AE blew it off. The recruiter was left uncomfortable and scrambling to find someone, anyone else who could talk to me. My candidacy was clearly not priority to this organization. I didn't feel like my time, homework and background was valued or appreciated. Coming from a progressive company where I do feel valued, this reminded me that I should probably stay put. Would not recommend the company or sales leadership. Very disappointed in my experience. Don't waste your time.
