I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Yext (McLean, VA) in Sep 2019
Interview
Began with an application online (no referral). Within about a month or two I was contacted to do a preliminary phone screen with the recruiter. We scheduled a technical phone screen for the following week. After the technical phone screen, I was notified the next day that I passed and we scheduled an on-site interview (Tysons Corner, VA office). Was notified later that week that I will be receiving an offer.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Preliminary recruiter screen: Just standard background questions, make sure you research the company beforehand. They will likely ask what you know about Yext and why you are interested in working for them.
Phone screen: Two technical coding/algorithm questions via an online shared editor (coderpad I think). Make sure you have a good internet connection.
Onsite Interviews: 5 interviews in the following order (an hour each)
- another coding/algorithm question (with laptop)
- debugging: given a program with bugs (bigger program, like 5 files) and you are tasked with tracking down and fixing the bugs
- Lunch: pretty casual interview. This seems like the chance to ask more specific questions about the company/workflow
- Behavioral: pretty standard "Have you ever ...?" or "How have you handled ....?" type questions
- another coding/algorithm interview (whiteboard)
I had a great interview process with friendly interviewers. I interviewed for the New York office as a software engineer. The conversations/interviews were interesting and gave me a clear understanding of the role and company.
