I got such a weird vibe from this company.
Recruiter was really nice but the team itself was wacky.
The hiring manager was weirdly defensive during the entire interview. He would ask me a question but then he would just comment on my answers for a long time to prove how smart he was. He would say things like “yes I know all about that” or “yes that’s true I’ve been there” like he was trying to prove he wasn’t an imposter. Weird.
Also, the compensation structure here is really weird. The bonus depends more on other team members performances than your own. That doesn’t make any sense. As an individual I can’t control the performance of the guy sitting next to me so why should my personal bonus be based on how he does?
Overall I got the vibe that no one who works here trusts each other and that everyone wants to stab each other in the back. Ew. This was made clear in the 6 hours I spent interviewing with this company.
I had to spend 2 hours putting together a data project and 4 hours talking to a million people who all needed to sign off on my hiring.
Some of them asked me unusual, loaded questions like “how did you deal with a manager who was wrong but who had more power than you” Uhh...this is awfully specific. Has this happened to you? Cause all of my managers throughout my career have been lovely ( except one ) I
Ultimately I declined the offer because the team seemed so siloed and backstaby and weird.
