      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at YouVisit (New York, NY) in Oct 2015

      Interview

I worked with a recruiter. I interviewed with the recruiter first, on the phone and in person. She submitted me to YouVisit, who opted to speak with me first by phone. My phone interview was about 30 minutes long, pleasant and pretty straightforward. Mostly discussing my experience, interests, goals, and why I wanted to turn in my freelancing shoes for a full-time job. The next phase was a writing test, which was challenging, because it forced me to work in a way I don't normally work. I tend to ask lots of questions, share drafts, and get feedback throughout the process. For the test, I had limited access to those kinds of resources, mostly relying on my gut to get things right. Apparently, I got many things right, because I was called back in for an in-person interview. The in-person interview was a little over an hour. I met with three different people, all in the marketing department. They were fantastic, asked great questions, but were fairly disarming and relaxed. Toward the end, the interview felt more like a conversation, in part because we didn't just talk about the company or the job, but personal interests as well. Bonus: I got to try virtual reality for the first time. In a day or two, an offer was extended, which I accepted.
