I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ZS Associates (New York, NY) in Feb 2020
Interview
I had applied for data scientist position in ZS associates on their career portal. They selected my resume and sent me the machine learning problem to solve.
I put my all the efforts and solve the problem and achieve a score 98.34/100 on with the solution.
I got passed this problem solving round and got selected for an interview. Due to coronavirus situation the cancelled all the physical round of interview and scheduled it online.
I put all my efforts and prepare presentation as per their presentation round guidelines. Everything was going very well.
But in interview interviewer come with the nonsense questions. It was an supervised Machine learning multiclass classification problem with 5 classes. The given data was unbalanced and couple of classes of having very less occurances(2 -3 data points).
This was the most challenging part of this problem as we have to handle this unbalanced data and prepare the solution. But interviewer has approch like we have to drop the classes with less occurances.
How can some one drop data from target variable? If we drop target variable then what is the purpose of solving the problem?
Still I tried to explain that we can't do that as this is part of target variable but ultimately I came up with rejection due to this reason.
If you want to reject the candidates with this silly notes why you are giving problem to solve and rejecting candidate after scoring 98.34/100 on your problem.
Either you should assigned a problem or conduct the technical interview.
