I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at ZS Associates (Gurgaon, Haryana) in Nov 2015
Interview
It was a pretty straightforward process, much like what has been described in other posts.
1) Online written AMCAT test which I gave from home. It was very easy and if your basic math is in place you will mostly clear it.
2) Onsite first round was the case study. It had around 10 pages of data and questions. It had 3 sections, each having 2 questions. It is very important that you go through the entire case in the initial 5 minutes. Even if you are not able to attempt all 6 questions in the case, having an idea about what you couldn't do in the given 30 minutes will fetch points. I was able to do all 6 questions and that fetches some points. 2 sections of questions tested your quant as well as business acumen. Last one was a qualitative question.
This was my first case study and even I was a bit nervous. But if you actually enjoy solving the case, you won't have much problem in clearing this round. 30 minutes of case analysis was followed by a 30 minute interview with a consultant to discuss how you thought about doing it. If the consultant makes a valid point on some mistake you might have made, accept it. Just show you are enthu about it and it shouldn't be a problem.
Though it sounds easy, from around 15 candidates sitting initially, 9 were eliminated in this round.
3) Next round generally is basic resume discussion plus some puzzles and guess-estimates. An EM took this round of mine and asked me about my final year B.Tech project. I had a startup in third year so we had a good discussion on that. He was pretty impressed by this point and asked an obligatory guess-estimate. You can use the book Vault's case guide for puzzles and guess-estimates.
4) Lat round is with a Principal consultant. It would be an easy one. If you reach here it is almost assured that you will get an offer. He would ask why ZS, why data analytics, etc. If you don't make a blunder here you won't be rejected.
