I applied online. I interviewed at Zendesk (Madison, WI)
Interview
Call with recruiter, call with manager, virtual interview with: 2 separate managers, director and peer (all separate), video presentation with managers & director.
The interview process took about 6 weeks from start to finish. I was disappointed in the recruitment aspect as I sent 2 emails with specific questions prior to the interviews, and didn't get a response. I sent the second a week after the first one didn't get a reply. I found out about one of my interviews literally the day of - 2 hours before - and had to scramble to accommodate. The interview themselves were pleasant and everyone was kind. I didn't feel like I had adequate time with any of them, however, as they were all 30minute interviews. While in total I spent about 4.5 hours interviewing with the company, I didn't feel like I had the opportunity to ask as many questions as I would have liked since the first 10-15 minutes of the earlier 6 interviews were discussing my background which was hard to do enthusiastically 5 times in a row. The questions were relatively simple and not hard to answer. I didn't have a bad experience, however, and should Zendesk reconsider my resume in the future I would still be interested in joining the team.
The interview process was straight forward. The company wanted to see if you had general knowledge of the solution. If you do not have a software background, it is recommended to watch videos or start a free trial to gain a better understanding.
Many steps, many weeks, long gaps in between interviews, typical interview structure with sales, service, and leadership. My process took place shortly after PE acquisition, so things may be faster now. Typical presentations (navigating an account, past success, etc).
