I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Zillow in Jun 2023
Interview
I had a phone screen for the position. Then was asked to complete a quick take-home assignment. It was not quick. Part one was writing and building a newsletter and giving the logic of why you chose the format, images, copy, and articles and then sending it to the HM and then taking a screen recording of editing the HTML. Part two was analyzing a heat map of 4 creatives that were a test - but with little information about the test- then creating one slide about the tests, results, and next steps. Part three was creating a creative brief format, a marketing email or campaign, putting it in the brief format, attaching samples of creatives and creating the creatives campaign strategy and audience split. After all of that, you think you'd get something of value back. 1.5 weeks later I received a boilerplate denial. I asked for feedback. They said they haven't gotten any. I asked again. Still none. They've reposted the job and have over 1300 apps over 2 months. There's no way one of us can't do this job well. I was really excited to at least meet the hiring manager and get to know their work, but this was discouraging and feels like they are just collecting free work.
