My initial phone screening with the recruiter was pleasant and promising. He described Zinier's mission, goals, and about the role requirements. I completed a total of three phone interviews with three different people before invited to a site interview.
I drove from SF to San Mateo and upon arrival, I'm informed my interview was canceled. They asked if I received their email which was sent 2 hours prior. I was traveling in-route there so no, I didn't have the opportunity. Honestly, I believe a phone call would have been a more respectable way of preventing and handling the situation.
One other experience worth mentioning. After all three employees asked my desired salary independently over the phone, I asked what the company's approved pay scale for the position. To my surprise, no one provided me the information. Not knowing the pay scale, whether it's intentional or not, is illegal. Recently, California passed a law and pay scale is required to be disclosed to candidates when asked so I saw this as a red flag.
I hope my feedback brings awareness to the Ziner team and changes are made so it'll be a better experience for all. Best of luck to everyone!
