      Full Stack Engineer Interview

      Neutral experience

      Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Zippin (New York, NY) in Apr 2021

      Interview

Pretty straight forward process, introductory call with engineering manager. Phone interview with an engineer and then an on-site. Phone interview had a couple of questions, a simple array question and a path finding graph question that can be solved with dfs. Had time left after the two questions so moved on to simple React project. State needed to be updated by child component. Listed out a couple of approaches and their pros and cons. Implemented the easiest. Onsite had 2 algo/ds interviews and a sys design interview as well. First interview had sliding window question and a dp question. I know this where I met my doom. I was a bit rusty with both of these and the interviewer nudged me towards the solutions. Dp was to find all possible palindromes of a string. Second interview involved a graph question, solved it using dfs and bfs, interviewer seemed content. It was nice talking to second interviewer, didn't ask many questions because I wasn't hopeful of giving the sys design interview or getting an offer. Don't know what to expect in the sys design question because it was cancelled and my candidacy was rejected. One suggestion to hiring team, the negative glassdoor review does put candidates off and it will be nice to nip it in the bud during the hiring process. I didn't ask any questions about it but it definitely was in the back of my mind.

Thank you for interviewing with us. I'm sorry you weren't selected for this opening, but I'd encourage you to apply again in the future. If you made it to the on-site stage we were very serious about your candidacy and maybe a little more practice would push you over the edge to join our team. Hope for now that you found a great opening! Best of luck!
