I applied online. The process took 7 weeks. I interviewed at Zscaler (Boston, MA) in Dec 2021
Interview
-At first I spoke to 2 Managers and the interviews went well. They wanted me to do a "Technical" Interview with a Manager in a different location.
-I am currently working in a similar position at one of their competitors and prior to that worked at another competitor, I am not new to what they do.
-When I did the "Technical" Interview (done via Zoom) the Manager did not seem interested in interviewing from the start. He at first apologized for being busy and doing no prep (he knew nothing about me, didn't even have the resume in front of him) then while I was answering his generic questions he was busy doing other things and half paying attention.
-Not even halfway through (it was supposed to be 1 hour) he said he had to go attend to an work issue and that to come back to his Zoom 3 hours later, which I did and waited for over 30 min. Ghosted. (I did email the in house person organizing this to let her know the interview got shortened and never finished, she never returned my email)
-I get a call a few days later from the in-house recruiter saying they were passing on me cause I failed the Technical interview (which I never got to even really do, he never asked any real technical questions). I was upset because I was ghosted by the interviewer for the tech questions and did not get a fair interview.
-Recruiter was nice and listened. He said he wanted to try to make it right, I have yet to hear back from the recruiter but will update this if they do try to rectify the situation.
-If that manager is an example of what I should expect to work under as an employee, I will take a pass on this job regardless if you pay a little more. I don't want to be treated like that, I'm sure it reflects in his employees.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Typical questions regarding what I do , didn't get into anything too deep on the technical interview which makes me suspicious that I was set up to fail cause the manager was lazy and didn't want to take the time to finish the interview like he should of cause ZScaler is overwhelmed with work and doesn't have enough people. Good Luck with tthat, I am glad I saw the signs.
No way I want to work here.
