I was contacted by a recruiter who said she was interested in my background. We scheduled a phone meeting-- she was a few minutes late. She seemed out of breath and I felt rushed. She didn't quite ask me about my experience, rather asked 2 or 3 very pointed questions -- it felt like she was reading a script. "How much have you gown your department? I need a percentage!"
The recruiter was rude, kept cutting me off, and didn't exactly sell the organization or the role. She put me down in a back-handed kind of way, questioning my career.
She let me know the team was going through lots of change and the leader was trying to figure out how to structure, so the role may or may not change.
At the end, she said she would put me through to the next round, then changed her tune and said she might, then said the leader wanted to speak to everyone she interviewed. The recruiter let me know she had only been employed there a couple of weeks and was trying to figure things out. Did not give me much confidence, and if that's the culture of the org, count me out.
A week later I received a generic "we're moving in another direction" email... well guess what? So am I.
