Can’t speak for Zscaler as a whole, only my individual experience. Spoke to recruiter, then hiring manager. Really great conversations at both levels that left me excited about the opportunity. The next round spoke to someone who was extremely disingenuous. Had a lengthy conversation and at the end I was told I would be moving forward, instead of them being honest and saying the fit wasn’t right. Conversation was good until we got to current growth of the company. The pandemic has created a ton of growth and opportunity for Zscaler with remote work and remote access. This individual proceeded to tell me they were essentially responsible for the current growth they were experiencing, solely due to a new sales process they implemented. I disagreed and argued that may be partially true, but the pandemic and proliferation of SaaS apps also led to much of their growth over the last few years. Apparently that didn’t sit well, and instead of being honest they found it easier to lie about moving forward to next steps. I reached out to the recruiter to ask about next steps a few days later, and never got a response. Not a big deal, but shows the culture I would have been walking into. It’s not that hard to respond to a message or just be honest about where things stand. Not responding at all, and not receiving any kind of feedback one way or the other, is a tactless move. A lot of these guys came from the same company before joining Zscaler, and are riding each others coattails. It seemed to me like there was a definite ‘bro culture’. While I was initially excited about the opportunity, I can’t help but feel like I dodged a bullet on this one.
