tl;dr: Chaotic. Poorly implemented. No respect for candidate's time. First interview was a phone screen. 12 minutes. Recruiter machine gunned through his questions. "Ok, as we wrap up". I had questions, many of them. Recruiter pushed the questions to next step. Not a good first impression. Recruiter wanted to move fast, but when it came time to make an appointment for the next round, he sent that task to an assistant. "Time is of the essence, unless it requires recruiter to do work" 45-minute tech screen w/ hiring manager turned into a 2-hour call. Very conversational. Lots of side chat, not much tech chat, not much about the position. Leaning towards, "yeah, I could work here". 45-minute tech screen with potential peer was surreal. At one point, he said, "are you sure you want this job? You will be bored." It was an amazing anti-interview. (the potential peer should be selling me on Zscaler, instead, he drove me away) 45-minute tech screen with another potential peer was better, but he asked some odd questions that didn't make sense. At this point, I'm leaning against but push forward out of curiosity. Presentation: 15-minute tech presentation, 15-minute "about me" presentation. Went fine. "We want to move forward, will be in touch". Then radio silence. Ping recruiter. "It's Friday, back to you on Monday." Recruiter is radio silent. Ping on Wednesday, "still talking to team". Job gets re-posted. Ok, I think I know what's going on. Then recruiter goes totally radio silent. I pull the plug. They don't respect my time (bad sign of organizational culture). Later, recruiter gets back to me, "sorry, personal emergency". That sucks, but you didn't hand your portfolio to a coworker. Either you're incompetent or it's cutthroat and you don't want to lose any related spiff. Job is still up 3 months later.
