A recruiter from Zymergen reached out to me via email to schedule an initial phone call with one of the scientists. That phone call was about half an hour and consisted of both behavioral and technical questions. I then had a phone call with a different in house recruiter to talk about more general elements of the job (expected salary, what the job location is like - I'm not in the area, etc). After this call, I scheduled a series of video interviews with 5 people at Zymergen. I talked to both scientists (at various levels) and managers, each for about 30 minutes. Some of them asked me mostly technical questions, others asked me mostly behavioral questions. All in all the video call lasted nearly three hours. I received a call from one of the recruiters a few days later letting me know that they would no longer be considering me for the role based on my technical qualifications.
