Had a phone call with the current lab technician that was leaving and was offered an in-person interview thereafter. I was applying from out of state (which was also stated in my resume). But when the hiring staff asked aout my availabilities and learned that I would have to fly in, they retracted the interview and said they were looking for in-state candidates.
