I think one of the most effective approaches the company president took was to ask me to rate myself from 1 to 10 on various dimensions, both in terms of skills and personality. While this may sound simplistic, it led to good conversations about why I gave each answer. I feel that she understood me much better as a result than many other interviewers have done.
