Part 1: Care Advocates’ primary role is to connect with members via introductory appointment, orient them to our platform, and help them navigate our wide range of resources. An exciting, growing part of our role is to provide care management, utilizing motivational interviewing techniques to help members achieve their specific family planning goals with the ultimate aim of positively impacting clinical outcomes. Please consider how you’d approach the scenario questions below using motivational interviewing techniques: 1. Assume you meet with a first-time pregnant member who is in their first trimester. What questions would you ask to learn about their goals during an appointment? 2. If they share that their top goal is to maintain healthy eating habits while dealing with food aversions and nausea, what recommendations might you make during the appointment?
