I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at alliantgroup, LP in Dec 2010
Interview
Some people do a phone interview, some do one on one. I had a walk in interview. Starts with a test over your Microsoft Office Skills mostly over short cuts. Then you do a written test. This is a test that gives you the applicable tax statute you will be dealing with mostly, and then asks you to apply this to a set of facts, which is most of what your job consists of. After completing this, you move on to a one on one interview, which is mostly an informing you what the company does. It is done by any number of individuals at the company, from the CEO to a recruiter/ HR manager, so your experience will depend on this. Sometimes involves role play, sometimes just feeling you out to see if you will fit in with the organization. Often a follow-up interview will take place. A decision might not come for over a month after you apply for a position.
Its not uncommon for you to be scheduled for an interview and wait in the waiting room for hours. I've also know people with a scheduled phone interview that have not been able to get through or have been flat out ignored. One instance, the candidate called back several times throughout the day and was unable to reach the HR manager whom they were scheduled to speak with. No call was given back to the candidate and they only were able to get a rescheduled interview after an employee intervened. Very disorganized and disrespectful.
Plus side, they do let you know, that the job is "not for everyone" (ie it sucks) and that the hours are long.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why do you want to work here? What do you want to gain from working here?
You do one interview online. Mine was with two people via Zoom. Then you do an in-person interview where they will fly you in if needed and it is with one person and you get a tour of the office.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at alliantgroup, LP (Houston, TX) in Oct 2024
Interview
The interview process is pretty average they're going to ask why do you feel you should get hired and what is something you didn't like about last your job. I had plenty of questions for them especially after reading all of the terrible reviews online, I wanted to assure any insecurities I had about the role and the company. I was hoping they could reassure me with their answers. They did the opposite and I was glad. I asked them how do they balance work and regular life since it was emphasized that the hours were long. Since they kept emphasizing that as a new hire I would be expected to stay even later to ensure I understood the material (which is not a problem for me) I asked out of curiosity what's the latest they had ever worked. They both gave me very late times and tried to ensure that this was a one-off (contrary to what many reviews state). After the interview, I was informed that I interview well and I would be great for the role but it was obvious that I had an issue with the hours. So if you're desperate for a job, don't mention the hours or ask about it. They're going to know you aren't green.
