Very little direction, structure, business discourse, and relevancy to the role. I interviewed with multiple people along the process, beginning with my recruiter, who explicitly told me to hide the fact that I am 6 months out of earning my MBA from a top-tier school (I had approximately 12 days of out of office class time to go between December and May--Fridays here and there). When I had my phone interview with the alliantgroup rep, my first thought was, "oh man...this company doesn't seem very professional," but I've always worked well in environments where there were challenges to be solved. So, I proceeded to the in-person interview. They were late. There were two interviewers. Both walked in looking disheveled, late, in a poorly lit, cramped room. It seemed almost like a candid camera moment. The interview was unstructured and directionless, with questions that were old-fashioned and poorly conceived.
They didn't respond to a referral of a very seasoned candidate.
When I mentioned school, I was given the most ridiculous response. These interviewers were obviously very intimidated by the idea of anyone getting advanced education. The Director's response was about 5 minutes, verbatim: "We get great access to the COO - so, we don't need schooling to learn." It was the most asinine, vision-less response I could have imagined... I am happily in another position and thrilled to death to be working for an organization that has vision and appreciates education and the pursuit of credentials and expertise. alliantgroup is not the organization.
