I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at alliantgroup, LP in May 2019
Interview
Obscure and unprofessional interview requiring role playing.
A recruiter from alliantgroup reached out to me on LinkedIn. I am an engineer and was looking for new opportunities so I decided to take them up on a phone interview which eventually led to an on-site interview. I was very skeptical of a company built solely around government incentives, however I figured I could use the interview as practice.
The first phone interview went well with quite a few questions centered around my engineering experience. During the process I was a little curious how my engineering experience translated into this position.
The next interview was onsite with two project managers I believe. The location is in the galleria and the office is very nice.
I am not sure if they were trying to play bad cop good cop or what however one of the interviews was pretty friendly and the other guy walked in trying to act like a tough guy. The interview started with pretty basic questions and then we talked about he company and how the opportunities are endless. Being an engineer, I still wasn’t sure where my qualification would fit into this company since it seems like very little problem solving or value creation is required.
We then went into this obscure and unprofessional role playing where I had to pretend to be an employee being yelled at by an angry client. It was a very unusual situation being yelled at by a person you just met/interviewer so the situation was obviously very uncomfortable and slightly comical. This was not a type of case study where I had to think quick on my feet to solve a problem or develop a business case for a client. This was literally just to see how I could get out of a situation with an angry client when alliantgroup drops the ball on a deadline.
I ended the interview asking a few question about how my engineering skills and experience fit into the company.

Pretty normal interview process, phone screening, Microsoft Teams video call, then an on site interview. You usually speak to somebody different at each stage of the process. No complaints here!
