      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at alliantgroup, LP (Houston, TX) in Sep 2013

      Interview

The interview process was a nightmare. The process started with a fifteen minute phone-screen followed by an invitation to interview at alliantgroup’s headquarters in Houston. This was followed by a second message received 2 hours later “uninviting” me to their headquarters because they had additional questions about my background. Before I could schedule this second phone interview, I was emailed to call a different person to schedule my second interview in Houston. I went ahead and provided dates to this other recruiter. This was followed by another communication stating that the first recruiter needed to speak with me before flying me down to Houston. This was followed by another email with my airline itinerary for a trip to Houston – yes, a trip I could not take until I had my second phone-interview. Confused yet? Well, I finally emailed the first recruiter to request a specific date for my second phone interview since no one returned my previous phone message. To my surprise, they responded with a specific date. Needless to say, at this point I was too confused and baffled by the disorganization of this company to take any subsequent interview seriously. I decided at the last minute to go ahead with my scheduled interview in Houston just to see how close the negative reviews were to reality. I must say the people I met definitely did not dispel the negative reviews – alliantgroup was as unorganized as I thought (and read). I met with an HR person and top-level managers including the COO. Interestingly, I was also informed that the office was on a 9/15/13 tax deadline so things were a little frantic. One would think that scheduling interviews so close to an important deadline would be a bad idea but not so at alliantgroup!! The interview questions were very generic and not well thought-out. It was clear no interviewer read my resume and I would guess they were accustomed to interviewing only non-experienced, junior professionals. One interviewer left twice in the middle of my interview to take a call from an angry client (I suppose their deadline had something to do with this). When this interviewer finally returned, I asked him a question that required a detailed response. His answer consisted of two words. He then stared at me as if he had provided some deep insight into the company. Additionally and more shockingly is that the COO said nothing to me except hello and walked out in the middle of my interview with no explanation and never returned. Amazing!! The only positive note is that I got to visit Houston :).

      Interview questions [1]

      Question 1

There were no difficult or unexpected questions. Overall, the management team clearly does not prepare for interviews so the questions were basic, chronological questions that followed my resume format.

      Application

I applied online. The process took 8 months. I interviewed at alliantgroup, LP (Houston, TX)

      Interview

This interview process was a complete joke. I applied for the position and then got a call 6 MONTHS later asking to schedule a phone interview. The first time, someone called 30 minutes late telling me the interviewer needed to reschedule. The second time, someone called 20 minutes late telling me the interviewer needed to reschedule. The third time, someone called 15 minutes late and said they were the interviewer and apologized for being late (no mention of the other two times). She then proceeded to ask me three very generic interview questions, asked if I had any, interrupted me, and then hung up. It lasted a total of less than 10 minutes. Three months later, I got a generic rejection email. After reading all the other reviews, I guess this makes sense now. Stay away……

      Question 1

None. The decision was clearly made before I answered the phone. I just don'r understand why they would go to all the trouble.
