I applied and was invited to a 5 minute phone interview. However, the interviewer never called me and only after I emailed asking if I should still be expecting a call did they email me back saying that the interviewer had changed their mind and decided to pass on my candidacy. This showed a complete lack of respect for me and my time, especially for such a low commitment affair as a 5 minute phone call, and hinted at how alliantgroup probably treats its employees.
When I was doing my next job hunt I applied here again and immediately received an invite for an in person interview at there office. I went in and the interviewer asked me one or two surface level questions like why did I choose the major that I did, before going on a long monologue/pitch on the company's process and what working there was like. After maybe 15 minutes of this it was clear that she was ready to extend me an offer for the job, despite me not having talked much at all and her not having interviewed me in any meaningful way.
She asked me if I had any questions, to which I responded by asking what were the low lights of the job and working at the company. She seemed a bit guarded answering the question and mentioned how they expected people in this position to work long hours, but quickly followed it up with all the positives that she had just went on about earlier. She mentioned how this week they had 6 new people starting in the position that I was applying for and another 7 or so would be starting next week. This is a bad sign because the company was not growing enough to justify hiring all these people which means the turnover rate for this position (or the company) must be high. One of the points she also leaned on was the idea that working such demanding hours is what everyone in the company had gone through because the company likes to promote from within. So supposedly everyone in the higher level positions at this company had been through what I would be going through and had "paid their dues" so to speak. Her point fell flat though since she herself was hired into a management level position from outside the company and had not worked here as an entry level employee.
While leaving the interview I noticed how un-energetic and tired the employees around the office and in the elevator looked. They did not strike me as being satisfied with their job or work. I was extended a job offer shortly after the interview which I chose to decline.
