Though process while completing the take home assignment and trade offs made during development. Discussion mostly on the work I been doing.
They asked very closed ended questions about my past experiences. For example, they asked about a job I had in 2019 (different tech role) and it was quite hard to remember a lot of interesting details. I have a job now which is actually more relevant (the same type of role as I applied for) and more recent, and where I have had much greater impact so I wish they would let me guide the conversation by allowing the questions to be more open ended.
The assignment was just right difficult. I think with it I could properly show my main knowledge of programming the Android apps. It took me about 15 hours of work, which is a bit more than they assumed, but it was my fault I needed more time than it was planned. There was no deadline. I just needed to let them know the estimated date, when I was planning to finish it, but they said I can extend the submission deadline if I'd need. The technical interview was nicely structured by topics (eg. architecture of project, handling data, frameworks etc.). I liked if I didn't know or understand something I got full explanation. Also I got full feedback about my assignment so I know what I did by their expectations or if not, what I could do better or differently.
In the technical interview we talked about the kotlin 'lazy' variable initialization. During the personal interview we they asked me about my opportunity areas
1. MVP vs MVVM 2. Spy vs Mokito 3. Provider vs bind in DI 4. Kotlin basics 5. Android jetpack components
