Group Assessment: What candidate would you hire and why?
There is plenty of info out there on the video interview process - have a google and be prepared for differences in the time you have to answer questions. At the group interview stage where you asked to conduct a store walk, be sure to make notes on your store walk in at least the following areas: - Special Buys - Stock not including special buys - The till operation (including the impulse unit - what they sell there etc) - Staff - Layout If I were you, I would pre-prepare a presentation for each of these areas areas and then deliver which ever one you end up with when you get there. In hindsight, I definitely wish I did that! Even at this group stage, be sure to have a good understanding of Aldi's history, Aldi's presence in terms of public affairs, and how Aldi is different with respect to each of those categories above ^. You'll be asked to then take part in a recruitment exercise where you look through a job spec and a couple of CVs. You give a 1 min presentation on what you believe is right, and then the group have a bit of a discussion on what the group believes is right. The MD will then quiz everyone about the decision. Keep an eye on time. At the end of the group interview, you are asked to rate each other on a form. It's not 1-10 or anything like that, more like who did you think was the best leader, who managed the time etc etc. The MD assured us that we were not competing against each other, and that it is possible for more than one person to go through. The people who were there on the day were quite nice. Try and have a chat and get to know them and break the ice a little. If you can get other candidates personal / professional context before you go in, you'll all do better. GOOD LUCK! :)

Sat round in a group for a while and learned about the history of Aldi. Everyone gave a short presentation as to why they think they'd be a good manager. There was a simply maths tests that you have about 10 minutes to complete.
