Interview
The in person interview process was lengthy lasting about 5 hours. There are 2 hour long interviews where you speak one on one with a manager in the IT department. There are also 2 hour and a half long technical portions in which you are given a puzzle to solve.
The puzzles are intended to make you talk your way through a problem with the person conducting the interview. You are allowed to ask them questions and they will even help you by giving you suggestions if you get stuck. You are also allowed to use your laptop to search online for anything hat might help you. You are also expected to write code and create a program that when ran will complete the goal of the puzzle.

Question 1
One of the puzzles was to create a program that would solve a problem in which you have a clock face and 12 coins (4 pennies, 4 nickles, 4 dimes) that you place one by one on the numbers of the clock face. The program has to be able to allow the most possible moves that allow you to place a coin on a number (if you place a penny on the number 1, then your next move will be on the number 2. If you place a nickle on two the next move will be on the number 7. A dime moves you 10 places)

To put it in one sentence, Athenahealth’s interview process is significantly flawed and out of touch. Expect 4.5-6 HOURS of rigorous coding round interviews where you must complete fully optimized working solutions. There’s no care for how, or why you solved the problem. Just get every test case passing, and you’ve got a job. It’s clear this company is more keen on hiring a leetcoder, rather than trying to identify real talent. Other than the HM interview, no other opportunities are given to meet your potential coworkers. Expect to hop on a call with a stone wall of an interviewer, and have no intro’s or icebreaker. This was probably the biggest red flag of all.
