The group interview scenario was unproductive. The process kicked off in a poor setting as my soon to be boss (Not Andrew – Middle Management) was 30-minutes late for our 1:1 meet and greet. Once he arrived we spent 18-minutes trying to eat and become acquainted. My first impression was marred by him telling me that he looks forward to the upcoming group interview setting. He proceeded advise me not to take it personally as he tries to frustrate people to the point of quitting. He even took pride in acknowledging that he once made a person cry. I like most people take pride in my time and efforts and it was clear that from the start I was setup for failure.
At my post interview with the corporate recruiter I explained my displeasure with the process. They offered a secondary interview session. I considered the option but choose to decline. My time is important and I felt that if they failed me so early in the process what would it look like if they were a fundamental part of my every day.
For Andrew:
In my humble opinion we all will get tough interviews with our clientele. You may want to consider better positioning your new hire candidates the opportunity to be prepared, shine, and a chance to see observe them at their best?
