The interview was not professional, was too formal and the atmosphere was really tense. The communication and the way the interview was conducted were completely defective. The initial take-home assignment I got wasn't discussed in the interview and in return, I got an unannounced coding test done through Hangouts - this made me wonder if they interviewer even looked over the take-home assignment I did - I think not. After the unannounced coding test, they said they are all about testing creativity when in reality, the hostile coding-test environment that I got had nothing to do with creativity. Here are some of my impressions about the interviewer: - He gave me the impression that he was doing that only to tick a box somewhere. The communication was one-sided and biased towards him. - He didn't trust the project I just had done (the take-home assignment, which by the way, I don't even think he went over it) and he didn't accept to have a discussion over the skills I possess and the technologies that I know. He didn't look interested in knowing how I develop, how I think .. for all it matters I think he was only looking for someone without brains. What do all these say about the company? Are they super formal, do they have a defective team dynamic, are they all distrustful towards everyone in their company? Are they policing each other? I don't know the answer to these questions, but I'm pretty sure I don't want to find it. The interview, on the whole, was easy, but I did not agree with how they operate and hence, this was what made us split our ways. I only applied to them because I was approached by one of them and they asked me to give it a try. I don't regret the experience with their interviewing process because this reminds me there are not only good companies out there, they are also bad ones and I must be thankful for those that know how to treat their employees. Are they now actively looking for employees because there aren't many that would want to apply for a job opening at them? Judging from how I was approached, this is what I think or at least this is the impression I ended up with.
