As a generalist, what aspect of your work do you enjoy the most? What is your management style? We also had an in-depth conversation around salary. It was not advertised with the role when I applied so I was shocked to find out how low it was (60-80k for a senior role in a series A startup that is about to launch a series B raise). Their response was that people are happy to take lower salaries as the nature of their business is climate tech. However, this is under half the rate when compared to other climate tech roles in the market. You have to ask yourself what level of candidates you will get applying if take such an approach. To be fair on them, in the second interview, they did try to make some accommodations but it was still a woefully unappealing offer and I think we both realised that I wouldn't have accepted it even if offered.
