Every one was a lengthy, three-part question that was so long that by the time they got to the end, it was impossible to remember the whole thing. The final instance was with three minutes left in the interview time. I answered two-thirds of the question, but the third part was so absurdly broad and cumbersome that I asked the faculty member/PI if she could perhaps focus it a bit more so I could provide the most useful response, given the time. She stared back at me impassively and said, "Do you want me to repeat the question?"
