Tell me about yourself. What's an example of a company you think is doing great with PR right now?
Mostly typical interview questions, like elaborating on skills, past experiences, and how to handle difficult situations or people. Also included a couple questions on why that position/this company and why I'm looking to leave my current job. After the video interview (hiring manager was based in another office), I had to complete a written evaluation. The written component had four pieces to it ranging from editing to writing an extemporaneous email based on a handful of various facts.
What is you experience with creating communications plans?
How I work cross-functionally with internal partners to do my job. How I keep myself organized with competing priorities. How do I work with senior leaders who I may not necessarily agree with. There was also a written assignment component to the process.
Home Depot uses a standard interview guide so that all candidates are answering generally the same questions for that particular role and can be easily compared to each other. They will ask questions that pertain to your experience in that specific role, but they often will ask about values-related scenarios. Every question will typically begin with, "tell me a time when . . . "
