I did not send one in the initial application, because I thought my gender and demographic may be factored into the hiring process, so I declined to self identify. Based on how things went, I got the impression that a decision was made to pass without following through on the interview, and that it may have had to do with my ethnicity and gender. If not for that reason, it was something equally as arbitrary, and frustratingly disrespectful.
