Copywriter Interview Questions

"When you interview with an ad agency or other business for a copywriting position, the interviewer will ask questions that will determine whether you have the writing skills and advertising knowledge to write material that will help the the agency's clients sell their products. Prepare to present samples of your work and describe the techniques you used to make your material appeal to its target audience. You may be asked situational questions such as how you would use different forms of media to increase the appeal of a product to a range of consumers."

As stated above..."Have you ever cried at work?" was a toughie. Not because it required a well-thought-out answer (I mean, a pointed "no" seemed like it would suffice), but because it led to an elaborate internal series of scenarios in which that question would be even remotely appropriate. From the reviews of this place, it sounds like crying at work might be a common occurrence.

Most of the interview was discussing my resume and interest. I was also going to graduate school so accepting the position would have meant juggling school and working full-time, so we talked about the feasibility of that. The CD said it has been done before, and not necessarily a dealbreaker. She explained that they get busy around seasonal holidays, which made sense, and sometimes hire extra help at that time. I would probably be prepared to answer what my favorite See's candy is. Good luck :)
