I applied for a role at Dunnhumby back in January and was first invited for a phone screening by HR. The phone call lasted about 10 mins, focusing on general questions about my CV and suitability for the role.
A week after this, I was contacted to say that I would pass on to the next round of the interview process which as another phone call with a senior staff member of the department I was applying for (a phone call due to COVID). I was told the phone call would last 30 minutes. Unfortunately, this phone interview was disappointing. It felt rushed and the interviewer spoke for about 12-15 mins in total, beginning with a very interesting but long background story to the department and what they do. In addition to this, as they were going into details, it became very clear that the role they were looking for was a lot more niche and specific than what the Job Description explained.
I began the interview going over my work experience, at which point we went into certain areas and details as they related to the job I was applying for. The questions I was asked were very fair and standard practise, however under time constraints we had ended the interview with me feeling as though I had barely brushed upon my work experience and what I could bring to the table.
At the end of the interview, I was told that we were running overtime by 5 minutes which was a concern for the interviewer. We said our thank yous and I was told that HR would reach out to me in about a week with further information and feedback.
Naturally, a week went by and I wasn’t confident that I had passed the interview, but wanted feedback from my interview. I contacted HR asking if there were any progress on my application, and I never heard anything back.
Overall, a disappointing experience. It was rushed, and the radio silence was a real shame.
