      Application

I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at eBay in Feb 2019

      Interview

From initial contact (applied online, no referral) to rejection, took nearly 3 months. I was initially given the time frame of 1 month by hiring manager but the process was much longer than expected. Interviews were a 30 min recruiter call, 1 hour call with hiring manager, 1 video call, an on-site where I met with people and had a video call in addition to 4 more video calls (1-2 weeks between each). The lead recruiter was personable, informative and efficient however the recruiting coordinators had extensive issues in scheduling: 1) My initial phone conversation was booked in the wrong time-zone so I had to reach out in order to confirm this, fortunately I was able to speak to them later that day. 2) One video interview was a no-show and was rescheduled 3 weeks later. 3) Twice in 2 different video interviews others had come on to the conference call as the line was double booked. 4) On-site, the conference room we had was double booked. 5) On-site one of my interviewers had troubles setting up the video call number the recruiter had gave them. They were very vocal in their frustration with coordinators so this seems to happen often. Overall it was an OK experience, everyone I met was very smart and passionate but in the end I felt like they wasted both my time and theirs. The final feedback after speaking with 11 different people was they liked me but thought I didn't have senior manager level experience and would have offered me a plain manager level role if one was available. Not going to lie, I felt a bit insulted by the would-be junior offer, it shouldn't take 11 people over the course of 3 months to decide I don't have enough experience especially when I have more in years then the job description required (I could do it in my sleep). At the end of the day I think they just didn't want to pay my asking salary as the recruiter said initially it was high but didn't give me a range or target. I think whoever takes the job will be underpaid unfortunately.
