This is a 60-minute remote code review exercise using Python, Flask and SQlite. For this exercise, you’re going to look at a teammate’s pull request for a small flask app that we developed for the interview process. Please try to be in a space with a stable and fast internet connection as you will be sharing your screen. Audio and microphone is required, whereas video is optional. We aren’t testing your knowledge of the frameworks and languages in this exercise. However, we want to see how you’d find the answer - you are free to use Google, notes, ChatGPT, etc to get unstuck with Python, SQLite, or Flask issues. If we see something that’s hard to Google, we’ll likely chip in. In order to set yourself up for success, a very basic understanding of these tools would be highly recommended.

Project Leadership discussion: We depend on our engineering managers to set expectations and drive results in a dynamic environment. This covers topics such as prioritization, alignment, negotiating conflict, setting a vision, coordinating high priority issues, allocating people to projects, visualizing work, etc. We use a mix of project management tactics here at Carrot to guide these results and they’re constantly evolving. Please describe for me your most significant accomplishment within this area of management. Given the nature of project leadership, it’s recommended that you prepare some visualizations for this discussion. Also, please target 20 to 25 minutes to share your story. This will allow us time to ask follow up questions during the interview.
