Esl Teacher Interview Questions
"English as a Second Language (ESL) teachers are involved instructors who enable children from different backgrounds to learn English for use in everyday life. In an interview, expect to answer questions about your teaching style, philosophy towards ESL, and ability to connect with students on a personal level. It's helpful to know that nearly all schools require some level of ESL certification and public institutions also require teaching credentials."

What's your highest level of Education?
They asked me if I would be able to work the 15 classes per week in the morning and I told them that I would. They told me that I would receive a raise by my 3rd contract. They changed these rules a few months before my 3rd contract hit, however, so I ended up unable to meet the criteria (because I cannot work more of a full time/graveyard shift that a raise requires) and have to wait for another full year to qualify. I still will not qualify as I cannot work earlier than 4 in the morning. Yikes.
How many years' teaching experience do you have?
The main question is what is your experience
What is your teaching experience? Have you taught online before?
I had to teach a sample lesson.
Why do you want to teach adults?
Still waiting.
I don't think they know what they are looking for based on their line of questioning. The project itself was a 3 step process. This position would not even be necessary if they actually hired fully bilingual certified Math teachers or if they invested in training all of their tutors in best practices for ELLs. I know a few excellent Math teachers who are bilingual but I wouldn't recommend them to invest their time interviewing for them.
