You enter the issue fridge room in the morning and find that the paediatric fridge is alarming. What immediate actions would you take and why? Call Blood Transfusion to inform the BMS in charge of the situation and also find out whether the switchboard had called to inform them of the alarm. Check temperature devices to determine whether it is a genuine temperature deviation or a false alarm. If genuine then inform the BMS to carry out the necessary actions. Check the temperature chart to determine how long the fridge has been out of temperature.
