Loandepot posted a job for a graphic designer in December 2020 and I applied with my résumé and a link to my online designer portfolio that showcases my 20+ years of experience. I even submitted a cover letter that mentioned that I believed the job was a good fit for me not just because of experience but I have 11 years of remote work - the job really did sound like it was a good match for me. Then I get an email that says “At this time, we are only considering candidates with the experience and qualifications outlined in our job description.”. This really makes me wonder if they even looked at my cover letter, résumé and portfolio, or if they deemed it as too much experience - or if they even understood what was in their job description. This is a very blanketed and generic response that shows that either they scan submissions for specific keywords without viewing the entirety or they don’t understand the position’s needs.
