Very very impersonal, first we did a group zoom interview with around 6 people and the store manager. She asked everyone the exact same questions from a list and we all had to answer “popcorn style”, which means everyone was just trying to be first so they wouldn’t be last. Interviewer did not engage just wrote down our answers. Got an email a week later where the manager told me she’d hired everyone she needed except one person and asked me to do a 1-1 interview the next week to help her determine who her final hire would be. I don’t really understand the benefit of telling me i was one of her last choices but ok. The 1-1 interview was just as impersonal, she asked a list of pre-written questions and did not engage me on a single one of my answers, just let me finish and moved onto the next one. I’m my experience, interviews tend to be more conversational but honestly the manager might as well have just sent me the questions and had me record a video for her since she didn’t even speak to me beside to ask the next question. I was ultimately not hired, for which I am pretty grateful. It’s pretty clear she was looking for something specific and I just hope that wasn’t looks-related.
