I applied online. The process took 7 months. I interviewed at lululemon (Vancouver, BC) in Jan 2023
Interview
This was by far the most disappointing interview experience I’ve had with any company. I applied for a program manager role in early January and had a 30 minute phone interview with a recruiter the second week of January. This was a good and pleasant experience and was followed by a Zoom interview a week later with the hiring manager. Another good experience and a pretty casual conversation. She said they had an urgent need to fill this spot quickly. This was followed by a panel interview on February 2nd. I expected there to be several difficult questions about my experience, but it became clear they did not have a well established or standardized interview process. I was asked things like, “you’ll be interacting with people in Hong Kong, what is your experience working with Asians?” Overall it was a chill interview, just not what I expected. This is where the ‘fun’ begins. I followed up with the hiring manager and she told me they wanted to move fast. I followed up again two weeks later as I had not heard anything. She told me they were still in the process and asked me to stay in touch. I continued to follow up every two weeks or so. Finally, at the end of April, her reply to me following up was, “oh, talent team was supposed to reach out and let you know the role was downgraded one level and see if you were still interested.” I had not been reached out to by anyone but agreed to meet and see if the lower level role was something I wanted. We met in the last week of April and it was another good conversation. She told me I would meet with the new hiring manager, who reports to her. I met with that person the following week and did not get an overview of any next steps, but she said that they are hoping to have this person hired by the end of May. It took until June 16 for the next communication, and that was with a new recruiter who was unaware of all of the previous communication I’ve had with Lululemon. She scheduled me for yet another panel interview that took place on June 22nd. It went well and neither person on the panel was aware of process I had already been through. One of them even laughed and mentioned the hiring process at the company is why they miss out on a lot of good talent. After this interview, I sent a thank you and three email follow ups over the course of the next month. I still have not heard anything back from the recruiter or hiring manager.
