The hiring manager just spoke a lot about her vision. Two of the three VPs made the interview conversational and asked standard questions. One VP made it into an interrogation and repeated asked for examples of results and past successes. He admitted he had only been there 7 months and ended the interview by bluntly asking, "Why do you want this job" and when I answered him, he rebutted my response.

I applied online, and got a response to take an online assessment, then was contacted to take the assessment again, under HR observation via video conference. During the observed video interview, as I entered my credentials, there was a field asking for my age - which, in full transparency was 'optional' to complete. I entered my age - 54 - and moved on. However, I thought it odd that this was something asked, particularly as the Vertafore HR contact was watching my screen. I I answered the questions a second time, completing in my estimation the same number of questions with same accuracy as the first time (I estimate ~ 70% questions answered, 85%+ accuracy). However, within 24 hours I received a cursory "other better qualified candidates" message. I'm 54, extremely qualified and experienced for the role, and was genuinely surprised to not get past the second call with HR, let alone to actual employee panel interviews or the hiring manager. My gut instinct is my age may have been a negative, since at this stage of my career I'd require a higher overall compensation (base salary, bonus, stock/RSU's) than a mid-career candidate.
