I had a telephonic interview. I understand that job role says subject matter expert but in the case of history it is really irrelevant to ask direct history questions. The job description was different and the type of questions I was asked were different. Basically, in JD it was written that your role is to conduct video/online lectures, create a content, assessment. So rather checking my skills around creating or executing the content, some random questions were thrown at me like 1. What is the difference between world history and Indian history or Tell about the history of West Bengal in terms of a freedom fighter? After giving a few relevant answers, I got a reply as tell us about how the Muslim league formed in West Bengal and not about another freedom fighter. I was clearly not expecting such a question as history is too vast to talk about. The interviewer then told me that this is basic of history and everyone knows or should know this. And also you taught history to 5th and 6th you should know. Basically 5th and 6th history talks about ancient India. Though I was a school topper of history doesn't mean that I should know and remember each and every detail of history. That too least bothered history of West Bengal or Nagaland war. I belong to Maharashtra and there are 28 more states but doesn't mean that I remember everything about every state even if it a very obvious thing for an interviewer.
