Training Coordinator Interview Questions

"To be a training coordinator you must have sufficient leadership and communication skills to instruct employees in a classroom setting and assess their comprehension of pertinent training topics. When you interview for this position, the interviewer will be primarily concerned with your ability to design unique, effective training programs that can be used to bring employees up to speed with new work processes. You may also be asked about your proficiency in computer programs that are essential for instruction, such as Microsoft Powerpoint."

- Walk us through employment/positions - Three words to describe yourself - How would you handle two employees who did not get the job - What is your process for building the training architecture - What would your first 30-60-90 days look like - Why do you want to work at Escoffier These are general, run-of-the-mill questions and definitely not director-level. They were highly scripted, checklist-type questions and not conversational at all. The Director of Training would report to the VP of Admissions, which is misaligned. If you are seriously interested in elevating a company as a learning leader, my opinion is that you would be stifled in this role due to misaligned organizational structure with a leader who appears to prioritize team harmony (which is certainly important) over strategic training vision, strategy, and outcomes and who does not have rich training and instructional design experience. The questions were more geared toward a Sr. Trainer or Jr. Training Manager role. And the salary is deeply misaligned with the expectations posted in the job description. Good luck!
